New Delhi: Further expanding the network of highly subsidized food centres, East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir will inaugurate the fourthmass kitchen‘ in his constituency on Saturday. The new center will be opened at Shakarpur near Laxmi Nagar. Three such centers are already running and are giving full plate meal at Re.
The upcoming ‘Jan Rasoi’ in Shakarpur has been carved out of a concrete structure, which earlier served as a garbage collection and storage unit. People living near the food center will also get relief from the foul smell of garbage as the waste storage unit has been replaced with a food center which will provide nutritious food to the needy.
Gambhir said that it is a matter of great pride that the fourth Community Meal Center is going to open. “Our last three food centers in Gandhi Nagar, Ashok Nagar and” Vinod Nagar has received an overwhelming response and we are able to serve more than 3,000 people every day at just Re 1 per full plate. Most of the beneficiaries belong to the poorest section of the society who were badly affected by the pandemic and the lockdown. It is my duty as a public representative to make the lives of the most disadvantaged sections easier and that is the vision behind these food centres.”
Gambhir said that under the vision of PM Modi to serve the poor, now more ‘Jan Rasoi’ will be opened in East Delhi.
