Hitting out at the AAP government over the now scrapped excise policy, the BJP on Tuesday said it will raise awareness about the “conspiracy” hatched to “toy” with the future of youth in Delhi. ,

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, the party’s national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the “supporters of the new politics” did not shy away from taking steps that would drive Delhi’s youth into drug addiction.

He said the party has decided to raise awareness on the issue because “for us, it is not just an issue of corruption”, but also about the “future of the youth in Delhi”.

The BJP attack comes a day after a special Delhi court sent Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to five-day CBI custody in the Excise Policy scam case.

Trivedi took a jibe at Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was arrested by the CBI on Sunday evening in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-cancelled liquor policy for 2021-22.

He took a dig at Sisodia, saying, “It must be an unusual thing, that in Delhi the ‘Shiksha Mantri’ (Education Minister) and the ‘Sharab Mantri’ (Excise Minister) are the same.”

The AAP claimed that he was a “supporter of the new politics” and did not shy away from taking steps that would “drown the youth of Delhi into a state of intoxication”.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Monday demanded that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal immediately drop his two arrested ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain from the cabinet.

Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in May last year on charges of money laundering.

He said there should be an “immediate reshuffle” in the Delhi cabinet.
