‘Delayed justice becomes meaningless’: HC Justice remembers man who was denied compensation 25 years after son’s death

Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal on Saturday sought to take home the ailment of delayed justice, recalling an incident in which a man refused to take compensation 25 years after his son died in a road accident. and asked the court to keep the money. Recalling a case involving a person seeking compensation from the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Justice Bindal observed that after the person was finally compensated, he asked the court to keep the money with him.

“Judge sir, please keep this money with you for now. After his father, my son, died in a road accident 25 years ago, I was in great need of it to raise and educate my grandchildren. I don’t need the money anymore as they are all settled now,” Justice Bindal recalled the man while telling the court.

The Chief Justice of the High Court narrated the incident in the presence of Justice Rajiv Joshi of the High Court, Administrative Judge of Mathura Subordinate Judiciary and District Judge Rajeev Bharti.

Nyay urging the Lok Adalat to settle maximum number of disputes, describing the incident, said that the Lok Adalat does what Lord Krishna did to stop the Mahabharata and Lord Hanuman and Angad fought the Ramayana. did to stop it.

Chief Justice Bindal also advised banks and LIC to adopt a positive approach so that maximum number of cases can be disposed of. Sonika Verma, Secretary, Mathura District Legal Services Authority said that 1,27,567 cases were resolved by Lok Adalat on Saturday against 1,87,515 cases related to district collectorates and tehsils.
