Who will be the next Chief Minister of BJP in Goa? The answer to this question has not been clarified by the central management even two days after the counting of votes. Meanwhile, discussions have started on Saturday after senior BJP leader Vishwajit Rane suddenly arrived to meet Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai.

In the midst of this discussion, the current CM Pramod Sawant has held an emergency meeting with the winning MLAs to strengthen his claim. According to the report of Hindustan Times, 17 out of 20 winning BJP MLAs have attended this meeting held in a hotel.

Rane was among the contenders after Parrikar’s death
After the death of Manohar Parrikar, Rane was also one of the contenders for the chief minister’s post from the BJP in Goa. However, he later tried to quell the speculations by describing himself as a disciplined soldier of the BJP, describing the meeting with the governor as just a personal meeting. He said, I had a personal meeting with His Excellency. I had gone to invite him to visit my constituency and seek his blessings on my victory. There was nothing political.

He accused local media channels of politicizing the meeting. However, despite Rane’s clarification, BJP sources have indicated something going on inside.

Answers were postponed on the question of making Sawant as CM again
When Vishwajit Rane was asked whether Pramod Sawand would continue as the chief minister after the counting of votes on Thursday, he had deferred a reply. On insisting, he merely said that it was a sensitive question and he knew nothing about it. It was only after deferring his answer to this question that political analysts had pointed out that there was something black in the pulse.

Sawant has been able to save the seat by just 650 votes.
Despite being the Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant has hardly been able to achieve his victory in Sanklin assembly seat. He has won from Congress candidate Dharmesh Sagalani by a margin of just 650 votes. On the other hand, Rane, who was the Health Minister in the Sawant government, has not only won from Vaploi seat, as well as his wife has also won from Poinim seat.

BJP is just one seat away from majority
The BJP, which fielded candidates on all 40 seats in Goa, has won 20 seats despite the Congress and Goa Forward Party forming an alliance in the opposition. It is just 1 seat away from the majority, but has got the support of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and 3 independent MLAs. Despite this, the BJP has so far maintained suspense on its chief minister’s face.
