Daily vaccination nears 20,000 mark for the first time in Prayagraj – Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The COVID-19 vaccination in Sangam city has gained momentum as the daily vaccination count has crossed the 20,000 mark for the first time since the start of the mega drive.
Health department officials have attributed the COVID rush to the rising awareness level among recipients in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. Vaccination Center (CCC).
Till June 24, 8,00,587 COVID vaccine shots were given to recipients of all age groups, ie those above 18 years of age. While 6,70,250 beneficiaries have taken the first dose, 1,30,337 recipients have also received the second shot.
Additional Chief Medical Officer and District Immunization Officer (DIO) Dr Tirath Lal said, “On an average, we are increasing our daily target and efforts are on to cover more crowd in villages and blocks between 18 and 44 years. ”
A total of 19,263 vaccines were administered to people of all age groups in the last 24 hours, including 18,218 recipients of the first dose and 10,45 of the second shot, he said.
Under the near home vaccination campaign, a total of 8,567 shots were administered on Thursday, which includes 1,389 in CHC Kotwa Bani, 1,330 in Kaurihar, 1,596 in Jasra, 1,387 in Holagarh, 1,244 in Chaka and 1,621 in Soraon.
The authorities are currently carrying out vaccination drives from Monday to Saturday at 222 sites in the district, including more than 110 sites in rural areas spread over 20 blocks, to cover maximum crowd.
Rural immunization centers also include panchayat buildings, ANM centres, anganwadi centres, major rural markets, primary schools and gram sabha buildings. He said that these rural sites have been selected to cover maximum rural crowd, especially those who could not reach the community/primary health centers for vaccination under the Near Home Vaccination Campaign.
Since about 60 percent of eligible recipients live in rural areas, more health teams have been deployed to service in rural areas. At least 10-12 additional teams will be roped in to achieve the target with the cluster plan starting from July 1.
The district health department officials have set a target to administer around 39.87 lakh beneficiaries, which includes 27 lakh recipients in the age group of 18 to 44 and 12.87 lakh beneficiaries above the age of 45 years.
