After the entry of the Omicron variant in the country, the speed of the corona epidemic is suddenly increasing at a speed of more than 6.3 times. On December 29, more than 9 thousand new patients were being received daily in the country, which has crossed the figure of 58 thousand after 8 days i.e. on Wednesday.

Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry gave this information on Wednesday. Agarwal said that Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Gujarat are the 8 states where the infection figures are increasing very fast. This is a matter of concern for us.

According to the Health Ministry, there are 28 districts of the country, where a jump of more than 10% has been registered in the Vikli positivity rate. At the same time, there are 43 districts where the rate of infection has been recorded between 5 and 10 percent. Similarly, on 29 December 2021, the positivity rate across the country was at 0.79%, which reached the level of 5.03% on 5 January. In this way, a sudden jump in infection has been registered.

The good thing is that fewer people went to the hospital
However, in the midst of these scary figures and the increasing cases of Omicron, it is a matter of relief that even after the increasing infection, so far very few such patients have been found, who have needed to be admitted to the hospital. The Health Ministry said that we do not have to be afraid of the third wave of corona, but need to be prepared for every situation ahead by following discipline with caution.

7.40 crore children in the age group of 15 to 18 will be vaccinated
The Ministry of Health said that from January 3, the vaccine has been started for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years. There are 7.40 crore children of this age group in the country, who are to be vaccinated. At the same time, from January 10, health care, front line workers and people above 60 years of age suffering from comorbidities i.e. serious diseases are to be given precaution doses. The way they were given the first and second doses of the vaccine, in the same way the third dose will also be given.

Molnupiravir not included in the National Task for Treatment
ICMR DG Dr Balram Bhargava said – There are serious health-related questions regarding Molnupiravir. This can damage cells, muscles and bones. There are doubts related to children. Therefore it is not included in the National Task Treatment.

Record patients found in the world on January 4
The Health Ministry said that on January 4, 25.2 lakh cases of corona were registered globally, which is the highest ever since the beginning of the epidemic. In the week ending January 4, about 65% of the cases have been reported from the US, UK, France, Italy and Spain. At the same time, in countries around the world, the death toll from the new variant Omicron of Corona has increased to 108.
