KALABURAGI: One person died and 15 people fell ill after drinking contaminated water at Gobbur Wadi village in Kamalapur taluk in Kalaburagi district. People started falling ill from last one week after drinking contaminated water. Saibanna Bajantri, 50, died within three days after falling ill.
The health department tested samples from 16 water pipelines that bring water to the village and found that water from 11 was contaminated.
It is said that the pipelines have leaks and rainwater got mixed with the drinking water. Deceased Saibanna’s daughters Bheemabai, 25, and Jagadevi, 22, are also unwell. They were all treated at Dongaragaum primary health centre and shifted to the Humanabad taluk hospital. Saibanna’s daughters have recovered and were discharged.
