Congress-TMC surround BJP after Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik’s allegations of corruption

TMC today submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Goa, seeking removal of CM Sawant and a probe by a retired Supreme Court judge.

Days after Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik made strong allegations against some people BJP leader and ‘an RSS functionary’, Congress And TMC opened a front against the ruling party. Congress today targeted the BJP saying that BJP cannot suppress such a big case of corruption and it should answer in this matter.

“The PM’s friend and RSS functionary is being accused of corruption, that too by a governor. BJP cannot suppress such a big case of corruption, in this case an answer has to be given.

The Congress also said that when the Governor disclosed the issue of corruption to the Prime Minister, “the Governor was removed and a close aide of the PM remained in office”. “Is it zero tolerance for corruption?” asked the party. Malik had said during a TV interview that he had informed the PM about the corruption going on under the leadership of Goa CM Pramod Sawant. Malik also said that PM Modi must have been misled by those involved in corruption.

Malik had also alleged that those who commit mistakes cannot speak truth to power and he is able to speak his mind as he has not committed any crime. Malik had also said that if the BJP government fails to address the farmers’ issues, it will have a negative impact on the BJP in the elections. Malik had said that the farmers’ demand for MSP is justified.

On the other hand, TMC today submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Goa, demanding removal of CM Sawant and a probe by a retired Supreme Court judge. TMC national vice president Luizinho Faleiro said, “We have given a memorandum to the Goa Governor seeking the resignation of CM Pramod Sawant and a high-level judicial inquiry by a retired Supreme Court judge to probe the alleged corruption.”

Trinamool Congress is campaigning vigorously in Goa ahead of next year’s elections. Two parties will start in the election- Aam Aadmi Party and Trinamool Congress. The BJP is the ruling party in the state while the Congress is in opposition.
