South Africa defeated defending champions West Indies by eight wickets in their second Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup here on Tuesday.
opener Evin Lewis South Africa restricted West Indies to 143 for 8 before hitting a scintillating half-century.
In reply, South African batsmen chased down the target with 10 balls to spare. Rassi van der Dussen (43 not out) eden markram (51 not out) and Reeza Hendrix (39) played match-winning innings as the West Indies bowlers looked helpless.
Sent to bat, Lewis hit six sixes and three fours in his innings of 56 runs. Captain Kieron Pollard (26) was the other top contributor for the defending champions.
