Interacting with students who returned from Ukraine, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday claimed that “never in the past was such a successful and systematic operation” to evacuate Indian nationals.

He said it was because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “personal” relationship with Ukraine’s neighboring countries, including Romania and Hungary, that these countries had opened their borders only to Indian citizens, leading to the safe return of the students.

In a meeting with 52 students evacuated from Ukraine and their parents at his official residence, 5, Kalidas Marg, the Chief Minister said that their safe return has been possible only because of their faith in the Narendra Modi government.

“Citizens of other countries stranded in Ukraine are forced to return home at their own expense but the Government of India is bringing back its citizens at the expense of the government. Never before has there been such a successful and systematic return operation as it is today Chief Minister Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister said that a total of 2,397 students from Uttar Pradesh are pursuing medical and other courses in Ukraine. He said that 1400 of these students have been brought back safely till Saturday evening.

“The government is trying to bring back the remaining 1,000 children. Some people are coming today. Every district magistrate of the state has been directed to meet the parents of the children returning from Ukraine and solve their problems.

The Chief Minister also interacted with the students present during the programme.

He said that Prime Minister Modi is holding regular meetings on the issue and has also held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other people concerned.

“Our embassies in all the countries adjacent to Ukraine are actively working on the border,” he said.

The CM said, “The first goal of the government is to bring back all the students from Ukraine safely. We will plan for the future of their studies in the second phase after that. Talks are going on between both the Indian government and the state government.” Asking students to continue revising their syllabus at home.

Accusing the previous governments of the state of not paying attention to the field of medical education, Chief Minister Adityanath said, “The reason you people go to Ukraine for medical studies is that medical infrastructure should have been focused after independence. was not given.”

Adityanath said, “The country became independent in 1947 and in 70 years till 2017 only 12 medical colleges were opened in Uttar Pradesh, but between 2017 and 2022 we opened 33 new medical colleges.”

He also said that the cost of education in Ukraine ranges from 20 to 30 lakh rupees.

“Around Rs 2 crore is spent in US and UK but if you study in any government medical college in India, it will cost only Rs 4 to 5 lakh. AIIMS, Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli have been made operational and 35 Of the medical colleges, including AIIMS, which have been set up, 17 have been made operational,” the Chief Minister said.
