Nagraj Manjule: Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal are great actors, I would love to work with them in future – Times of India

After delivering blockbusters like ‘Sairat’, Nagraj Manjule took over the reins of ‘Jhund’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Thrilled to work with a legend like Big B, the filmmaker shared, “I did extensive research when this concept came to me. I had met Vijay Barse ji and his students before writing the script. and when i told the story Bachchan Sir, he immediately agreed. I never knew that one day I would make a film with Bachchan sir.

“I have learned a lot from Bachchan sir. Despite doing so many films, he continues to show immense dedication and passion for the craft. As they say, success goes to one’s head, but with Amitabh sir it is different. His simplicity can be gauged only by seeing him on the set. And as a human being too, he is very helpful,” the filmmaker says in awe of the man he looks up to dearly.

Coming from blockbusters like ‘Sairat’, Nagraj Manjule prefers not to stress himself with financial figures, “I never take box office pressure. I cannot stress enough box office success before making a film. I just believe in making a film with 100 per cent effort, the result will be there. It is true that responsibility is the factor. But making a film is all about teamwork, even ‘Sairat’ was a collaborative hit , so it’s everyone’s effort and everyone’s success. I just put my heart and soul into ‘Sairat’ and the audience gave the result. With ‘Jhund’, the only thing that was different for me was such a strong actor. To work with. It was a huge responsibility.”

Big B’s soccer team in ‘Jhund’ includes actors from Nagraj Manjule’s previous films. The filmmaker has reprized the lead cast of ‘Sairat’ – Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar – for this entertainer, while he has reunited with Ajay-Atul for the music. The filmmaker insisted, “There are a lot of minor characters around Bachchan sir, and my previous actors were perfect in the roles. Also Ajay-Atul are my favourites, we have great tuning as well. We take care of each other’s needs. Understand, they know what my heart desires.” Riding on the success of several National Awards, Nagraj Manjule is happy with the initial success of ‘Jhund’, adding, “I am happy with the kind of response I am getting. I have received four National Awards so far and if If ‘Jhund’ also gets such appreciation, it will be a big deal for me. But for now, I can’t predict anything.”

While Nagraj Manjule dropped Amitabh Bachchan’s name from his wish list, we asked him to reveal other names he would like to work with. “I look forward to working with you” Aamir KhanNaseer sir. even Ranbir Kapoor And Vicky Kaushal He is a great actor, I would love to work with him. I also follow Raju Hirani ji’s movies. The thing is, I want to work with a lot of actors, but I am not sure if they would like to work with me,” the filmmaker hinted.
