New Delhi: Hearing petition looking for direction exhaust Indian’s students trapped in Ukrainea Supreme court bench headed by chief Judge NV Ramana said on Thursday, “We feel bad for the students, but can we instruct Russian President Putin to stop the war?”
The petitioner claimed that the Indian government was only focusing on evacuation from eastern Ukraine. “More students are stranded in other parts of Ukraine. They should also be evacuated and the government should be asked to take care of them,” the petitioner said. Responding to this, CJI Raman asked the petitioner which government should be asked to take care of the students.
In a strange request, the petitioner said, “An observation by the SC will help expedite the evacuation of all the stranded students from Ukraine.”
The top court also said that according to media reports, the Indian government is doing its best to rescue the stranded Indian students from Ukraine.
The CJI sought the views of Attorney General (AG) KK Venugopal on the matter and said, “We feel bad for the suffering of the people and students due to the war.”
The top court also sent a copy of the petition through a special messenger to the AG, which as claimed by the petitioner requested to help 250 students who were studying in Odessa, Ukraine and move them to Romania-Moldova. was being stopped. ,
Meanwhile, the AG reported that a Union Minister is in Romania to oversee the speedy evacuation of students coming from Ukraine. AG Venugopal said, “It is strange that when Ukraine is allowing people to cross the border, students are complaining that they are not allowed to cross.”
