CBI searches premises of Anil Deshmukh in connection with alleged PE report leak case. India News – Times of India

Mumbai: CBI Searched the premises of former home minister of the state Anil Deshmukh In a case related to the leak of the alleged CBI Preliminary Investigation (PE) report, in which Deshmukh was given a clean chit at the initial stage. Earlier, the CBI had arrested Deshmukh’s lawyer Anand Daga and CBI sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari in the case.
Tiwari was part of the CBI team that was probing a corruption case against Deshmukh. Tiwari had given documents and information related to PE to Daga for the bribe.
Recently, an purported CBI report giving a clean chit to Deshmukh in the preliminary stage of the Preliminary Investigation (PE), in which Deshmukh had leveled corruption charges, was circulated in the media. The CBI registered a separate case related to the leak of the report against its officers and Daga for attempting to sabotage the ongoing probe against Deshmukh.
The CBI found that Daga had bribed Tiwari to “disclose sensitive and confidential documents”.
On 28 August, a message along with a preliminary inquiry report, which had clearly concluded that the case against Deshmukh was not made out on the basis of the available evidence, was circulated among the media organisations. CBI officials had then told TOI that the FIR registered against Deshmukh was based on the final findings of the preliminary inquiry report, which mentioned that a cognizable case has been made out.
The CBI is probing a corruption case against Deshmukh where former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has alleged that Deshmukh, now sacked police officer Sachin Vaze as Home Minister, illegally extorted money from the city’s bar owners every month. Was asked to take Rs 100 crore from Him. The CBI is also probing whether Deshmukh had played a role in the transfers and postings of police officers. After the recent development, CBI registered a separate case Daga, Tiwari and Deshmukh’s role in it will be probed.
