The BJP on Friday announced four candidates from different states for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha and assembly bypolls to West Bengal, Bihar and Maharashtra. BJP has fielded Agnimitra Paul from West Bengal’s Asansol against TMC candidate and former Union Minister Shatrughan Sinha for the Lok Sabha bypoll. Paul is an MLA from Asansol South Assembly Constituency and General Secretary of West Bengal BJP.

BJP has fielded Keya Ghosh for the by-election from Ballygunge assembly seat against former Union minister Babul Supriyo. For the Rajya Sabha biennial elections, BJP has nominated Pabitra Margherita from Assam, Dr Sikander Kumar from Himachal Pradesh, S. Phangnon Konyak and Dr Manik Saha from Tripura.

“The BJP Central Election Committee has approved the following names for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha,” BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said in a statement.

BJP has given ticket to Baby Kumari for the by-election from Bochahan assembly constituency of Bihar. BJP has nominated Satyajit (Nana) Shivajirao Kadam as its party’s candidate from Kolhapur North assembly seat.

Voting for the Rajya Sabha biennial election will be held on March 31 and the counting of votes will take place after the poll ends on the same day. Asansol, one parliamentary constituency and one assembly constituency in West Bengal (Ballygunge), Chhattisgarh (Khairgarh), Bihar (Bochahan) and Maharashtra (Kolhapur North), will go to polls on April 12 and the counting of votes will take place on April 16.
