BBL 11: Perth Scorchers celebrate after winning fourth title Jhye Richardson injured

Perth Scorchers won their fourth BBL title as they beat Sydney Sixers by a margin of 79 runs. The Scorchers were in a celebratory mood as soon as they found out that they had defeated the Sixers by a huge margin. Several players rushed to congratulate bowler Jhye Richardson, who suffered a nose injury during the celebration. As he said later he has cut off a shoulder for his nose here.

Laurie Evans smashed an unbeaten 76 off 41 balls to beat the Perth Scorchers in Australia’s Big Bash final in Melbourne on Friday.

Their fireworks took Perth to 171 for six in 20 overs and Sydney were all out for 92 in 16.2 overs in reply to a 79-run victory.

This was revenge for the Scorchers, who were defeated by their arch-rivals in the final season’s decider.

Man of the match Evans said, “What can I say, people deserve it.”

“They have sacrificed a lot, for not being able to get home and belongings. I’m really proud that we got in line today.”

The clash marked the conclusion of another tournament at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, with the game being played with the roof closed after a torrential downpour.

The Scorchers designated the venue their “home” ground as they are unable to return to Western Australia, with the state’s border still closed to the rest of the country due to COVID concerns.

Sixers captain Moises Henriques said: “Congratulations Perth, the best team of the year, and maybe you won tonight.”

Henriques won the toss and elected to bowl and it was a good decision when Scorchers were dismissed for 25 for 4 after six overs.

But captain Ashton Turner (54) and Evans’ unbelievable 104-run partnership turned the match in their favor.

Evans hit four fours and four sixes in his explosive innings, with both Nathan Lyon and Steve O’Keefe taking two wickets each.
