Earlier on November 29, thousands of people from the Pasi community had protested on the streets of Patna against the administration’s action against the sellers of Tari.

After former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, now Lok Janshakti Party’s Ram Vilas (LJPR) president and Jamui MP Chirag Paswan has claimed that Tari is a natural drink and its ban should be lifted in the state.

“We cannot compare Tari with liquor… It cannot be kept in the category of liquor. Lakhs of people from the Pasi community depend on Tari. This is the only source of earning for them, Paswan said.

“…It is a natural sap produced from the palm tree. how it turned into wine Nitish Kumar And their bureaucrats will understand. Brewery units are established in every block of the state and the authorities are allowing them to function.

“Nitish Kumar is sitting in a big bungalow in Patna while the present and future of the poor people of the Pasi community is in darkness. Nitish Kumar is unable to see their plight. The administration is arresting people by registering an FIR for selling curry; And when he protested, the state police in Patna brutally beat him up and put him in jail. Paswan said that Bihar police and other administrative officials are not arresting people involved in bootlegging business as they are sharing the earnings and the money is going from bottom to top.

Earlier on November 29, thousands of people from the Pasi community protested on the streets of Patna and the police lathi-charged them to disperse them. A day after that incident (on 30 November), Manjhi targeted the Nitish government and demanded that Tari be removed from the category of liquor. He explained that “Tari is a natural juice and is healthy for the human body”.

State Chief Secretary Amir Subhani defended the state government, arguing that “due to fermentation in taari, it became an alcoholic beverage a few hours after production”.

Pasi community has a big vote bank in Bihar and Nitish Kumar does not want to lose the trust of this community.
