Australian Open 2023 | Day 2 of Australian Open 2023 saw some great action, some interesting matches and some great emotions. England’s Andy Murray stunned the 2022 Australian Open semi-finalist as he rolled back years to reach the second round of the tournament. Meanwhile, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic started his campaign in style as the 21-time Grand Slam winner defeated Carballes Baena in straight sets. Here are all the major results from day two of the Australian Open.

Murray shows magic to beat Berrettini

Tennis veteran Andy Murray was up against a rising star of a new generation in his first match of the tournament. Murray, a multiple-time runner-up at the Australian Open, needed some magic with his racquet to beat Berrettini in four hours and 49 minutes. He won the first two sets and lost the next two to save a match point in the decider. He won the match 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7 (7) and 7-6 (10-6).

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic began his campaign at the first Grand Slam of the year in style when he defeated Baena in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-0. Djokovic saved three early break points to emerge victorious in the first set and cruised past in the second set. He didn’t break a sweat in the third set.

Jabur Mini escapes from fear
2022 Wimbledon and US Open runner-up Ons Jabur was in doubt in her first match against Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek as second seed Jabur was tested. He won the opening set in a tiebreaker before losing the second set. The Tunisian found inspiration in winning the World No. 98 6-1 in the decider.

Aryna Sabalenka reaches second round
Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka stormed into the second round of the Australian Open after defeating Czech Republic’s Tereza Martinkova in 1 hour and 9 minutes. He won the first set 6–1 in straight sets and won the second set 6–4.
