Writer and filmmaker Vetrimaaran is all set to come up with the sequel to his hit film Viduthalai. The sequel stars an ensemble cast of actors Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj and others. Now, as per the reports, actor SJ Suryah is the latest to join the cast of the film Viduthalai Part 2. As per the reports, Suryah was roped in to play an extended cameo in the last schedule of the film’s production. Other reports state that he will play a key role in the movie directed by Vetrimaaran. An official confirmation on these reports, is, however, awaited. Viduthalai earned positive reviews from critics and audiences for questioning the cases of police brutality.

As per the reports, the production of Viduthalai Part 2 is taking longer than expected. Vetrimaaran initially envisioned this film as a single movie with the actor Soori playing the main role. Vijay Sethupathi’s role in the movie was supposed to be an important role but with a brief runtime. The narrative of the film changed drastically once Vetrimaaran started shooting. Sethupathi’s character, Perumal Vaathiyaar, became the main character of the narrative. Subsequently, the filmmaker decided to split the movie into two parts and release it on the big screens in 2023.

Besides being an actor, Suryah wears many hats and has outshined in the roles of a filmmaker, producer, playback singer and music director. Despite having an impeccable track record as a filmmaker, he has always been interested in acting only. He talked about it in an interview with the Film Companion portal. He said, “I always wanted to be an actor. It was always my target. To make a star you need a producer and director. They have to believe in you and I didn’t have that. So, I decided to become a director, earn money, then direct and produce myself.” According to the 55-year-old actor, he perfectly planned his journey in 1994 and in 2004, released the film New. With this film, he became a hero, producer and director.

On the career front, the 55-year-old actor last acted in the film Jigarthanda Double X.
