NEW DELHI: Apple has started rolling out the latest OS update for its devices. The company has released iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates. Available for the public to download, the new updates mainly focus on bug fixes. The new update is important because it fixes various issues and will keep you safe online.
Here’s everything new in the latest iOS and iPadOS update
Safari bug fix
With this latest OS update, Apple has finally addressed the Safari bug which has been bothering its users. With iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, a bug was reported in Safari which allowed someone to extract the browsing history of the user and even the Google IDs stored there.
The security vulnerability was found in the implementation of IndexedDB, a Javascript API used to store data. With the aid of this bug, cybercriminals can see the recently accessed URLs and even obtain the Google User ID, which exposes your personal information. With this latest OS update, the Safari bug will be patched so, the above-mentioned vulnerability will not be used to access the browsing history and identity of the user.
IOMobileFrameBuffer Bug
With the iOS 15.3 update, the company has also fixed the memory corruption bug which enabled a malicious application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple mentioned that the bug has been widely exploited which means that hackers were using it and it may have impacted some of the users.
Other small bug fixes
The iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates have also addressed various other vulnerabilities such as ColorSync, Crash Reporter, iCloud, and the Kernel. However, none of these issues were known to be exploited by the hackers.
