Angry husband killed his wife for refusing to compromise. Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Valsad police on Saturday arrested an auto-rickshaw driver who killed his estranged wife. Both were living separately for the last six years. Angry at the victim’s refusal to come back to him, the accused killed him, Police said.
Police said the killer Puneet Mitna chased his wife Mamta (30) and killed her while on her way to his uncle’s house in Umargam late Thursday night. Mamta’s father Dalpat has filed a murder case against his son-in-law at Umargam Marine Police Station on Friday. Dalpat claimed that just before he died, Mamta told him that Mitna slit his throat and stabbed him several times.
According to Dalpat, Mamta had left her husband about six years ago because Mitna used to harass her on suspicion of infidelity. Tired of day-to-day suffering, Mamta returned to her parents’ house with her children. Dalpat told the police that Mitna would often visit her house and try to persuade Mamta to return, but she always refused.
On Thursday night, when Mamta was going to her maternal uncle Dhansukh’s house, Mitna chased her and attacked her near Sutherphalia Road. After slitting her throat, he stabbed her before running away. Locals informed Dalpat about the attack after which Mamta was taken to a hospital in Bhilad from where she was referred to another hospital in Vapi.
He died in Vapi hospital during treatment. Police said that when her parents asked her before she died, Mamta told them that Mitna had attacked her. “We have arrested him, but he is yet to be questioned as to how he committed the crime and about the murder weapon,” a police officer said.
