Amarnath Yatra: 6 pilgrims, 1 pony driver killed in last 36 hours; Death toll 49. Hui

Six pilgrims and a pony driver died of natural causes during the Amarnath Yatra in the last 36 hours, taking the total to 49 deaths, officials said on Saturday. The dead included 15 passengers who lost their lives in the July 8 floods.

So far 47 passengers and two pony drivers have died during the pilgrimage that began on June 30. A pony driver was killed after falling from a horse into a deep gorge in Pahalgam.

On July 8, 15 passengers lost their lives and around 55 were injured in flash floods near the cave temple. So far more than 1.5 lakh pilgrims have visited the cave temple.
