Tamil film Soorarai Potru is being remade in Hindi Akshay Kumar in the lead. Reportedly, the original star of the film, Suriya will play a special role in the Hindi version. When Suriya was producing the film, there were rumors that the actor would also have a cameo appearance.
On Wednesday, the actor put an end to the speculations by sharing a picture with Akshay from the sets of the film, confirming that he was indeed appearing in the film. In the photo, both the actors are seen sitting in front of a plane, in which Surya is resting his head on Akshay’s lap. He tweeted, “@AkshayKumar sir Seeing you as #VIR was nostalgic! @Sudha_Kongara can see our story coming to life beautifully #Maara! In a brief cameo with #SooraraiPottru Hindi team every Enjoyed the minute.” He also tagged the film’s co-producer Vikram Malhotra in the tweet.
Akshay replied, “Thank you brother @Suriya_offl. Love shooting every moment to re-tell an inspiring story like #SooraraiPottru. And despite our strict captain, it is (heart) to stay in Chennai. Fans of both the actors reacted with enthusiasm. One wrote, “Best crossover ever.” Another tweeted, “Maybe we can soon have Suriya in a full-fledged role in Hindi.”

2020 Tamil drama film directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga Entertainment and Sikh Entertainment. The story was conceptualized and written by Kongara. The film starred Suriya, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal, with Mohan Babu, Urvashi and Karunas in other supporting roles. It was partly inspired by events in the life of Simplyfly Deccan founder GR Gopinath as described in his memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey.
