Ajinkya Rahane turns 34: Memorable innings of Indian cricketer

Happy Birthday Ajinkya Rahane: Indian batting legend Ajinkya Rahane will celebrate his 34th birthday on Monday. As an integral part of the middle order, the classy Mumbai batsman has made a significant contribution to the Indian cricket team.

Rahane’s captaincy helped Team India win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. His temperament and flexibility often saved the Indian team from difficult situations. Apart from superb batting skills, the former India vice-captain is also an aspiring fielder.

  1. 112 vs Australia (Melbourne Cricket Ground)
    Interim Test captain Ajinkya Rahane scored a brilliant century (112 runs in 223 balls) in the second Test against Australia. Rahane hit 12 fours in his brilliant innings. The visitors eventually scored 326 runs in the first innings.
  2. 147 vs Australia (Melbourne Cricket Ground)
    The veteran batsman completely played a savior against the Aussies as the Indian team posted a mammoth score of 465 in the third Test in the 2014-15 series. Rahane had scored 147 runs in 171 balls and shared a massive 262-run partnership with Virat Kohli in the first innings. Eventually the test match ended in a draw.
  3. 103 vs England (Lord’s Cricket Ground)
    Rahane emerged as the main architect of India’s historic victory at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in 2014. India were asked to bat on a green pitch where the visitors were struggling, but Rahane showed his composure to help India reach a total of 295. The Dombivli-born batsman played a brilliant innings of 103 runs in 154 balls in the first innings.

    In the second Test against Sri Lanka, Rahane played a crucial innings and helped his team post a scintillating total of 413 runs. Rahane had scored 126 runs in 243 balls in the second innings as the visitors secured a 278-run victory.
  5. 111 vs Sri Lanka (Barabati Stadium, Cuttack)
    Rahane’s highest score in ODIs appeared in the first match of the series against Sri Lanka in 2014. He started the innings with Shikhar Dhawan and scored 111 runs in 108 balls. Rahane hit 13 fours and two sixes in his brilliant innings. India won this match by a huge margin of 169 runs.
