Taking a jibe at the BJP, which has been in power in the MCD for three consecutive terms, Sisodia said it will not take AAP 15 years to clean the landfill sites.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said work on landfill sites in Delhi needs to be expedited and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will ensure that MCD councilors are sworn in next month.

Sisodia, along with AAP’s mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates – Shelly Oberoi and Aale Mohammad Iqbal – visited the Okhla landfill site to inspect the progress of work there.

AAP councilors have started working even before taking oath. We visited the Okhla landfill site and inspected the progress made so far. There is a need to speed up the work and I hope that after January 6, you corporators will ensure this. To reduce the height of mountains of garbage, we need to visit landfill sites every week, Sisodia said.

It won’t take us 15 years to clean up landfill sites. The BJP was in power in the MCD for 15 years, yet it could not do anything about the mountain of garbage. We will also install more machines at each landfill site to speed up the work. Our efforts will bring relief to the people living nearby.
