Ranchi: Armed men shot Dead A land dealer on a busy road in Hinoo under Doranda police station in Ranchi at around 11.30 am on Wednesday.
Victim Altaf Ansari (35) was sitting in a black car near Pantaloons showroom in Hinoo when motorcyclists fired indiscriminately at him. Altaf was seriously injured after being hit by four bullets. Hearing the sound of bullets, the killers fled from the spot and people ran to hide.
The local people later took the victim to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, but he died on the way.
MD Jilani, one of Altaf’s friends, said the victim had informed the local police about the threat to his life but the police did not pay any heed.
Police said on Wednesday evening that the victim’s family is yet to register an FIR. Stating that time will be given as the relatives are in shock, the police said that they have already started an investigation and added that they will register a case if necessary.
City Superintendent of Police Saurav, who visited the spot after the incident, said, “Police will investigate from all angles. Close-circuit television cameras, call records of the victim, movement of criminals and witnesses are being examined. Prima facie crime is related to? land dispute”
He said that cases were also registered against Altaf in various police stations.
