BEIJING: Four people were killed and eight others were injured when part of a ramp bridge on an expressway in China collapsed, officials said. Hubei Province, local officials said.
The accident happened on Saturday afternoon when a part of the bridge on the expressway collapsed ezhau City. Officials said three trucks fell on the bridge and a car was crushed under the collapsed single-column bridge, blocking the two-way traffic of the expressway.
Several people were working on the bridge when the accident happened. Preliminary investigation revealed that an overloaded truck weighing 198 tonnes broke into two pieces while falling, sending two other vehicles along with it. xinhua news agency Reported on Sunday.
A provincial governor and a deputy provincial governor have arrived at the scene to lead the rescue, and traffic police officers and firefighters are engaged in emergency relief work.
