3D emoji may still be en route for Windows 11 – Times of India

Microsoft may still be working on true 3d emojis For Windows 11, according to a report in The Verge based on a blog post by Nando Costa, a designer at Microsoft. The software giant is only making 2D emoji available for windows 11 even after teasing she will bring 3d emoji to the OS. While there has been no official announcement by the tech giant regarding 3D emoji, Costa has detailed how the company is going about creating and incorporating different types of emoji. According to the blogpost, the company is still working on bringing onboard 3D emoji to Windows 11.
“While Fluent Emoji is out there for our customers to enjoy in Windows 11, and soon in Microsoft Teams, our work is not done. As expected, we continue to create new designs based on new Unicode releases every year. and will also explore investments in our specific concepts,” the blogpost said.
Back in 2021, the company had announced plans to bring around 1,800 emoji to Microsoft 365. These will be the updated, 3D versions of the 2D emoji and built in according to the Fluent design language design. 3D emoji will have brighter colors with more saturation. Microsoft also plans to update the Teams app with some 900 new, 3D emoji to add more color to text-based conversations.
