Jaipur: Protection of children from sexual offenses (poxoA court in Merta town of Rajasthan’s Nagaur district sentenced a 26-year-old to death for raping and killing an 8-year-old girl in the district. The verdict was delivered within a month of the crime.
The accused raped and killed the girl, who he claimed to have believed the deceased’s mother to be his sister, on September 20. He was arrested the same day and the police submitted the charge sheet in the court on September 27.
The judge said the brutal crime “shows demonic tendencies”, also imposed a fine of over Rs 2 lakh and sentenced each to 7 years of life imprisonment for kidnapping and illegally imprisoning the girl.

Protecting the children has become a tough task for the parents and the people responsible for such crime are a big stigma to the society. If he is kept alive then there is a possibility of committing such crimes in future and thus the morale of other criminals will increase.
The special judge, hearing the arguments of the defense counsel and the special public prosecutor, considered the case “rare than rare” and awarded the death penalty.
Meanwhile, the police are happy with the verdict. “After the rape and murder on September 20, my team of five officers burnt the midnight oil for quick arrest and further filing and submission of a strong charge sheet. We have also established the struggle of the girl against the rapist through forensic and medical reports.” Nand Lal Saini, Circle officer, deganawho was also the investigating officer of the case.
