A special CBI court in Mumbai on Monday sent four accused, arrested from Gujarat earlier this month in the 1993 bomb blasts case, to 14-day judicial custody. The accused had got their passports made using forged documents to hide their real identities and were on the run for the last 29 years.

Abu Bakr, Syed Qureshi, Mohammad Shoaib Qureshi and Mohammad Yusuf Ismail were among the four accused, who hailed from Mumbai. They were caught by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on May 12 from Sardarnagar area of ​​Ahmedabad following a specific tip-off. He was later handed over to the CBI, which is probing the serial bomb blasts case.

The accused were caught in early May
The four accused were produced before Special CBI Judge RR Bhosale on Monday at the end of their custody. The CBI requested for extension of his custody by 14 days. However, the court rejected the petition and sent them to judicial custody. The accused were caught earlier this month.

Interpol had issued red corner notice
A Gujarat Police official had earlier said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the four are wanted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. The official said that on the request of the CBI, Interpol had also issued a red corner notice against him.

The blast took place at the behest of Dawood
The Mumbai blasts on 12 March 1993 shook the entire nation. The first of the 12 blasts on this day took place outside the Bombay Stock Exchange building. At that time more than 2000 people were present in that building. 45 minutes after the people of the building could understand something, there was a second explosion. This time the blast took place in the parking lot of Air India building, not far from the stock exchange. After the blast, bodies were piled up all around. After this 10 more blasts took place in different parts of Mumbai.

All these blasts were done on the instructions of Dawood Ibrahim. All the terrorists involved in the blast were trained in Pakistan. These terrorists also included people like Abu Salem and Farooq Takla, who were caught by the Indian investigative agencies. However, Dawood Ibrahim, the master mind of this blast, is still out of the custody of the police.
