12 Rajya Sabha MPs suspended for entire winter session due to uproar in August

On the first day of the winter session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha suspended Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi among 12 opposition members of Parliament for the rest of the session for “absolute abuse of the rules of the House” and “violent behaviour” in the previous session.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi moved a motion to suspend the MPs under Rule 256 in the Upper House of Parliament.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Modi said, “It was a necessary action as such behavior has never been seen before, which includes my 35 years of legislative experience. Hopefully after this all the members of Parliament will learn a lesson.”

Earlier there was news that a committee would be formed to demand action against the MPs, but this proposal was introduced on Monday, which surprised many MPs.
