10,197 coronavirus cases reported in India in last 24 hours, active caseload lowest in 527 days

New Delhi: After reporting less than 10,000 coronavirus cases on Tuesday, India has registered a slight increase in infections. In the last 24 hours, 10,197 new cases have been reported in the country. In the last 24 hours, a total of 12,134 patients were cured of the virus while 301 people lost their lives.

The country’s active caseload now stands at 1,28,555, the lowest in 527 days. The daily positivity rate (0.82%) for the last 44 days is less than 2%. The weekly positivity rate (0.96%) for the last 54 days is less than 2%.

Kerala

Kerala on Tuesday recorded 5,516 fresh coronavirus infections and 210 deaths, taking the caseload to 50,71,135 and the death toll to 36,087.

With 6,705 more people recovering from the virus since Monday, the total recoveries went down to 49,71,080 and active cases came down to 63,338, an official press release said.

It said that out of 210 deaths, 39 were designated as COVID-19 deaths in the last few days and 171 after receiving an appeal based on fresh guidelines of the Center and directions of the Supreme Court .

70,576 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of cases at 798, followed by Thrissur (732) and Kottayam (624).
