The ‘politically motivated’ bureaucrats are showing utter apathy towards the poor in the villages. Due to which a large part of the state is facing acute shortage of drinking water. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has made this allegation by writing a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. On Thursday, BJP state president Sukant Majumdar faced protests over water in his adopted village in Balurghat. After that, the Leader of the Opposition wrote a letter to the Union Minister complaining about this.
In the letter, he wrote, ‘A large part of the state is facing shortage of drinking water. Our politically motivated bureaucracy, especially a section of the top bureaucracy, shows extreme indifference to the rural poor. As a result, he wrote in the letter that those who dream of ‘water to every house’ are broken.
On Thursday, BJP state president went to Chakram Prasad of Bhatapara Gram Panchayat of South Dinajpur to listen to the problems of common people. But there the local people surrounded him and demanded road and water. They complain that despite having a tap in the area, water does not flow in it.
Sukant told the villagers, ‘Drinking water has been made available to every household in this village under the central government’s scheme (Jal Jeevan Yojana). The local grassroots leaders must have eaten up the money so the work was of very poor quality. That’s why there is a water problem in the village. Sukant alleges that since this is his adopted village, there is a political motive behind it. Soon after, Subhendu wrote a letter complaining to the Union Jal Shakti Minister.
