Corporation and NDRF team checking the effect of gas in the gutter.

After the death of 11 people due to gas leak in Ludhiana, Punjab, the Pollution Board and the district administration have swung into action. Forensic teams have been called to collect water samples from industries, which are collecting samples from industrial units in Gyaspura. These samples will be tested in the chemical lab set up in Kharar.

PM Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over this matter. He has announced ex-gratia grant of Rs 2-2 lakh to the families of the deceased. 50 thousand rupees will be given to each injured person.

Punjab Pollution Control Board will not cooperate, action will be taken – Police Commissioner
On the other hand, in the gas leak case, Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that in the CCTV cameras which have been searched so far, nothing has been shown that any person or tanker is pouring chemical into the sewerage. Due to the seriousness of the matter, SIT has been constituted. The SIT committee comprises Investigation DCP Harmeet Hundal, ADCP-2 Suhail Mir, ADCP-4 Tushar Gupta, ACP South and SHO.

Police Commissioner Sidhu said that this industrial waste was not dumped for the first time. Industrial waste has often been dumped in these sewerages. The district police will also question the Punjab Pollution Control Board in this matter.

Will not let this matter be taken lightly. The nodal agency has a record of these industries. If the officials of the Pollution Board do not cooperate, action will be taken against them in this matter as well. The pollution board needs to improve its protocol.

Along with this, the administration has also taken possession of the DVRs of the CCTV cameras installed in the area. A sewerage cover was found badly damaged at some distance from the place where the incident took place.

It is suspected that chemical has been poured at that place from a tanker etc. At the moment, the officials are just speculating. About 50 industries are running in the area where the incident took place. Barring a few industries, none of the rest have treatment plants.

Road closed from Sua Road to Golden Palace
Even today, the road leading to the Golden Palace from Sua Road is closed by the police due to the gas leak. Still the area is sealed. The effect of gas has been reduced to a great extent. Still the elderly and children are not being allowed to go near the spot. Officers are continuously monitoring that area.

At the same time, the team of NDRF is also present at the spot. At the same time, it is being told that a separate SIT can also be constituted by the government in this matter.

Corporation officials do not listen
Ram Sharan, who lives in the area, told that poisonous water often comes in the taps. Whenever he complained, the corporation officials would tell him the opposite.
