MLA from Amritsar, Punjab, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar suddenly resigned from the post of civic body minister. Although he told the reason for this as personal, but there are 3 reasons behind this resignation. In which the biggest reason is being told to support senior journalist and Padma Bhushan Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard.

Dr. Nijjar had taken oath as minister in the month of July last year, but even before that he was entrusted with an important responsibility. After the formation of the government, the Aam Aadmi Party made Dr. Nijjar the pro-tem speaker. After this he was made a minister. It had been 11 months since he became the civic body minister, but Dr. Nijjar could not do any important work to please the government.

The government has been trying to conduct civic body elections since last February, but the municipal corporations could not complete the mapping work of their wards. Now after the victory in Jalandhar by-elections, AAP wants to conduct municipal elections in Punjab soon.

Dr. Hamdard’s support proved costly
Government’s important displeasure with Dr. Nijjar is also being told that he came in support of senior journalist Dr. Hamdard. Two days before his resignation, Nijjar had given a clean chit to senior journalist Padma Bhushan Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard in an interview.

In fact, Vigilance is probing the misappropriation of money during the construction of Jang-e-Azadi at Kartarpur. Recently, a notice was also sent to Dr. Hamdard on behalf of Vigilance. Which was opposed by the opposition parties as well, but while coming out of a program in Amritsar, Dr. Nijjar respected Dr. Hamdard and declared him innocent. He said that the contractors were behind the scam. He had said that he was in the planning, the work was done by the contractors.

Big works not done at local body level
On the other hand, at the local body level, the government does not have such a big task, which can be told to the people and asked for votes. Although the government will seek votes in the name of free electricity and mohalla clinics up to 300 units, major works are left incomplete in the cities. The problems of basic facilities like water, sewerage, street lights etc. provided at the local body level are standing as they are.

The government had talked about stopping illegal commercial construction and collecting money from it, but even today this work is going on on a large scale. People are angry with this and the government too. The local body department failed to stop this work. This is also a big reason, due to which the government was angry with Dr. Nijjar.

Sidhu called CM Mann an arrogant chief minister
On the other hand, the opponents have besieged the government after the resignation of Dr. Nijjar. Navjot Singh Sidhu, former head of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, has also tweeted calling CM Bhagwant Mann an arrogant Chief Minister after the resignation of civic body minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar.

Navjot Singh Sidhu has also shared a video along with this post, in which Dr. Nijjar Senior Journalist Padma Bhushan Dr. Barjinder Singh is seen speaking on the projects of Hamdard and Jung-e-Azadi.
