The rain and cold in Himachal Pradesh broke all previous records in the month of May. In seven days of May i.e. from 24th to 30th, there has been 325% more rain than normal. Similarly, from May 1 to 30, 84 percent more rain than normal has been received in the mountains.

Never in the previous years has it rained so much in May. Similarly, the cold has also broken all the records earlier this time in many cities.

There is no possibility of getting relief from rain in the mountains for the next five days. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in nine districts for today, while a yellow alert has been issued for the next three days.

In some places, hailstorm and thunderstorm with a speed of 30 to 40 km were also warned. It has been raining in many areas of the state since last night, while in Shimla it is raining well since morning. Due to this, there is a continuous drop in temperature.

People started getting cold in high areas
In the higher areas, people have now been forced to burn bonfires to avoid the cold like winter. The minimum temperature of Keylong has dropped to the lowest of 4.8 degrees. Similarly, the temperature has dropped to Kalpa 7.8 degrees, Shimla 13.5 degrees, Kukumasiri 7.5 degrees, Bharmour 10 degrees, Narkanda 9 degrees. The temperature of other cities of the state is also continuously falling. It will further decline after today’s rain.

54.9 mm rain record against 12.9 mm
According to the Meteorological Department, the state receives an average of 12.9 mm of rain from May 24 to 30, but this time it has received 54.9 mm of rain. At the same time, from May 1 to 30, against the normal rainfall of 61.2 mm, this time there has been 109.8 mm of rain.

877% more rain in Sirmaur
Sirmaur has received 877 percent more rainfall than normal. Similarly, 797% excess rainfall was recorded in Solan and 491% in Hamirpur. During the entire month, Solan received 243% more cloud cover than normal.

Tourists came with warm clothes
Tourists are turning to the mountains to escape the heat in the plains of the country. Most of the tourists are reaching the tourist places of the state with summer clothes. Due to this, they have to fight with the cold in the morning and evening, because the cold has returned to the mountains. In such a situation, tourists will have to approach tourist places with light warm clothes. The Meteorological Department has advised tourists not to go to high altitude areas.
