These rocks have been extracted from the Shaligram river of Nepal. These stones are very strong, in such a situation, fine carving can be done on them.

Two huge Shaligram rocks are being brought to Ayodhya from Nepal. Idols of Shri Ram and Mother Sita will be made from these. It is claimed that these rocks are about 60 million years old. However, will the idols made of these be kept in the sanctum sanctorum or installed elsewhere in the premises? It is not decided yet. Only the Ram Mandir Trust will take the final decision on this.

Both these rocks have been extracted from the Shaligrami river (Kali Gandaki) located in Pokhara in Nepal under the supervision of geological and archeological experts. Loaded in the truck on 26 January. After worshiping, both the rocks are being sent to Ayodhya by road by truck. On the way, people have also gathered to see and welcome these rocks. The weight of one stone is 26 tonnes while that of the other is 14 tonnes. That is, the weight of both the rocks is 40 tonnes.

Trustee of Ram Mandir Trust Kameshwar Chaupal said, “We have just been asked to bring the stones to Ayodhya. The trust will do its work after the stones reach Ayodhya. These stones can reach Ayodhya on February 2. They were taken out from the Shaligrami river.” Both these rocks are said to be about 60 million years old.

The Shaligrami river of Nepal becomes Narayani as soon as it enters India. In official papers its name is Budhi Gandaki river. The black stones of Shaligrami river are worshiped as Lord Shaligram. It is said that the Shaligram stone is found only in the Shaligrami river. This river originates from the Damodar Kund and joins the Ganga river at Sonepur in Bihar.

Kameshwar Chaupal told that religious rituals were performed before removing these huge boulders from the river bank. Apologies were made to the river. Special worship was done. Now Ayodhya is being brought. Rudrabhishek of Shila has also been done on January 26 at Galeshwar Mahadev Temple.

About 100 people are going along with the Shila Yatra. Arrangements have been made for their stay at the rest places. Central Vice President of VHP Jiveshwar Mishra, Rajendra Singh Pankaj, former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Kamalendra Nidhi, Mahant of Janakpur are also on this visit. They will come till Ayodhya. Kameshwar Chaupal, a member of the Ram Mandir Trust, is also accompanying the yatra.

It is being told that Mahant of Sitamarhi, Nepal had come two months ago to perform Rudrabhishek at Karsevak Puram. It was he who informed the trust about the Shaligram rocks. After this, a program was decided to take these rocks out of the river and bring them to Ayodhya. The Government of Nepal also participated in this. Rocks have been removed from the river only after the permission of the government.

These rocks are reaching Janakpur on Saturday. There will be a two-day ritual. After this, the stones will reach Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur via Saharghat, Benipatti in Madhubani, Bihar. Then on January 31, it will enter UP via Gopalganj. Shila will be worshiped at 51 places in Bihar.

Dr. Deshraj Upadhyay, an archaeologist and author of several books on Ayodhya, said, “A special type of black stone is found in the Shaligrami river of Nepal. In religious beliefs, these are called the form of Lord Shaligram. Stone has been used.”

He explains, “Shaligrami stones are very strong. Therefore, the craftsman carve out minute details. The dusky idol of Lord Rama in Ayodhya is built on this type of rock. Many pillars of Kasauti in the old temple of Ram Janmabhoomi are made of these rocks. were made of.”
