The challenge of being an international cricketer is to adapt to different types of surfaces and Tendulkar feels that when a team comes to India, they should be well aware that the pitches will provide turn.

excellent batting Sachin Tendulkar Has given his opinion on the noise around the Nagpur pitch for the first Test match between India and Australia. The pitch has come under scrutiny with many former cricketers and the Australian media terming it as a ‘tamper pitch’. Some dry spots are quite visible on the surface at Nagpur which could prove to be a problem for the left-handed batsmen in front of the left-arm spinners.

Tendulkar suggested that when a team tours India, the players are well aware that the pitches are going to help the spinners. Citing the example of Australia, he said that every team prepares pitches according to their strengths for home advantage.

“When you become an international cricketer, you have to play on any kind of surface in the world. Those are the challenges of travel. When we go to Australia, we don’t expect Turner there. We know that the nature of the surface will be a little bouncy and there will be more speed and the seam will go forward.

The batting legend feels that Pat Cummins and Co. are well prepared to take on the spin challenge on a turning track.

He said, ‘When the Australian team is in India, this is the situation. They know there will be turn and the nature of the surface will be slow. They are ready for that, they have practiced with the SG ball. Every team prepares to the best of their ability and what happens around them is what happens but the team is always in a different place than what outsiders are thinking. I think the Aussies are ready to play and take on the challenges.”

While everyone is talking about the impact of spinners, Tendulkar said that reverse swing will also be important.

“The fast bowlers will come into play in the first hour of every morning and so will the spinners as the surface will bite in the morning.

“I remember a match I played in Nagpur where the spinners dominated the morning session. The odd ball went straight and the other turned viciously. It became difficult for the batsmen to predict which would take the turn and which would come straight. It’s going to be both and the reverse will come into play in this series.”
