Yogi Adityanath to take oath as UP CM in grand ceremony for second term on March 25: Report

new Delhi: News agency ANI quoted official sources as saying that Uttar Pradesh’s nominated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may take oath as the Chief Minister of the state on March 25 at 4 pm.

According to official sources, the swearing-in ceremony will most likely take place at the Ekana Stadium, which is expected to be attended by thousands, news agency IANS reported.

The BJP is preparing a guest list for the event, which will include beneficiaries of various government initiatives, known as ‘labharti’, who played a key role in the party’s re-election.

Around 200 VVIPs will also be accommodated in the stadium.

Several important personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and others, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and the opposition will be invited.

Officials in charge of preparations said the event would be “unmatched” in terms of beauty and grandeur.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies swept to power in Uttar Pradesh, with elections held in seven phases, the first on 10 February and the last on 7 March.

The BJP, which won 312 seats on its own and a total of 325 seats with allies in the 2017 elections, was reduced to 255 (273 with allies) in the 403-member assembly; Nevertheless, the party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) remains well above the majority level of 202 seats.
