Change is the only constant in life.

In 2013, after co-founding and growing Jabong, I learned about Xiaomi and its

Unique philosophy of ‘Innovation for Everyone’. This resonated with me a lot.

I joined Xiaomi group in 2014 to start my journey to India. The first few years were full of ups and downs. We started as a one person start-up, operating out of a small office. We were the smallest of hundreds of smartphone brands, that too with limited resources and no prior relevant industry experience. But due to the efforts of a brilliant team, we were able to build one of the most loved brands in the country.

There are many things I am proud of but a few that hold my heart:

, Within three years, Xiaomi became the No. 1 smartphone brand in India, without spending any money on advertising

• It was an incredible moment when Mr Tata decided to support us and invest in the company

• It was my proudest moment to meet Hon. Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi Yes and

Being a small catalyst in the Make-in-India revolution. Soon 100% of our Smartphones and Smart TVs were becoming Made-in-India

• It was my proudest moment to meet Hon. Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji and being a small catalyst in the Make-in-India revolution. Soon 100% of our Smartphones and Smart TVs were becoming Made-in-India

Our expanding scale of operations has helped create over 50,000 jobs in India

After building a strong team and business, I wanted to help other markets with my learnings. With this intention, I moved overseas ~1.5 years ago (in July 2021), and later joined the Xiaomi International team. I am proud of India’s strong leadership team working independently and tirelessly to enable millions of Indians with the latest technology.

After nine years, I am moving on from the Xiaomi Group. I believe now is the right time, as we have a strong leadership team in place around the world. I wish all the best to Xiaomi teams globally and hope they achieve even greater success.

These past nine years have been truly phenomenal and I will always cherish the love and support I have received from fans, partners, team members and friends. I’m lucky to have experienced something so special that it makes saying goodbye that much harder. I will always carry a piece of Xiaomi in my heart.

Over the next few months, I will be taking some time off before taking on my next professional challenge. I am a maker at heart and would love to create something new, ideally in a new industry. I am proud to have been a small part of the ever-growing startup community twice. I hope to be back at it with another full challenge.

Nothing is impossible if people with good intentions come together. If you have interesting ideas that can empower millions of people, I’d love to chat.

Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen!

Manu Jain left his role as head of the India division in 2022 to work with the company’s global team based out of Dubai. Xiaomi has been facing intense scrutiny of its business dealings from the Indian government, and even questioned Jain last year. Xiaomi has already revamped its management in India, with multiple executives handling the company’s affairs since Jain stepped down.
