X.com now diverts to twitter.com, clears Musk

X.com: Elon Musk on Sunday tweeted his plan to rebrand the Twitter platform and remove the iconic bridge logo. He revealed that the X.com domain now redirects to http;//twitter.com/ and announced that an interim X logo would be released very soon.

“X.com now points to https://twitter.com/. The interim X logo will go live later today,” Musk tweeted.

The X.com company, which Musk founded in 1999, was an early version of the popular online payment platform PayPal.

new social media platform

Responding to a question from one of his followers, Musk made a cryptic tweet hinting at a possible new social media platform ‘X.com’. On Tuesday, a social media user asked the billionaire tech tycoon if he has thought of creating his own social platform.

Musk saw the question on Twitter and replied by simply writing “X.com”.

It is known that last week Tesla’s owner also talked about the website during Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting last week.

“I have a grand vision for what I thought X Corporation could do back in time. It’s a very grand vision and can certainly be started from zero, but I think Twitter will accelerate three to five years into it,” Musk reportedly said.

The tweet comes at a time when Musk is involved in a huge legal battle with Twitter.

A year ago Twitter sued Musk after he decided to back out of a US$44 billion acquisition deal. In April, Musk entered into an acquisition agreement with Twitter for US$54.20 per share in a transaction valued at approximately US$4 billion.

However, Musk put the deal on hold in May to allow his team to review the veracity of Twitter’s claim that less than 5 percent of accounts on the platform are bots or spam.
