UK PM Rishi Sunak hops in the ‘Barbenheimer’ trend with family; shares pic

Two of the most anticipated films of the year – Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer – have hit the theaters and are already creating a craze among audiences as they gather to celebrate both the films, coincidentally releasing on the same day. While one film is about a life-size doll, the other tells the story of the deadliest weapon in human history. Obviously, no one is immune to the film craze and the British Prime Minister is also one of them. UK PM Rishi Sunak recently took a break from his political duties and decided to spend time with his family at the theatres.

As a part of his weekend plans, the political leader was seen watching Barbie with his wife and daughters.

Rishi Sunak shared a picture with his family on his social media handle, mentioning that they see Barbie for the first time. He can be seen posing with his wife Akshata Murthy and their daughters Krishna and Anushka as they held movie tickets and were all smiles.

The UK PM wrote, “The family vote was only going one way… Barbie is #Barbenheimer first.”

Clearly, in a Barbie mood, Sunak’s wife and daughters can be seen dressed in pink while the UK PM opted for a simple gray sweatshirt and a pair of blue jeans.

Considered one of the major releases of the year, Barbie and Oppenheimer are locked in a tough box office fight with audiences flocking to see the two. With the hashtag ‘Barbenheimer’ trending on social media, the media had already spoken about a face-to-face between the two.

While Greta Gerwig’s Barbie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling is about the iconic doll, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is based on J Robert Oppenheimer, the mind behind ‘Atomic Bomb’.

After already earning impressive numbers in Thursday previews, the films are currently doing well at the global box office.
