Wriddhiman Saha has not played Test cricket for India since December 2021

India’s wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was not included in the squad for the World Test Championship (WTC). The veteran cricketer had last year said that he is not optimistic about his chances of playing for India again as the BCCI selectors are reportedly focusing on the next generation.

This was the reason why Ishan Kishan was included in the team in place of injured KL Rahul and not Saha.

Saha, 38, had a good run in IPL 2023 and scored a half-century in the final for Gujarat Titans against Chennai Super Kings.

Saha ended his IPL 2023 campaign with 371 runs.

Former India women’s team captain Anjum Chopra feels the wicketkeeper deserved a spot.

Chopra said, “Ishaan Kishan can be a part of any team as he has done well in all formats in the recent past.” my game ,It will be the decision of the management who will play in the playing XI. Still, I felt, Wriddhiman Saha could have been a better option keeping in mind the fact that this is a one-off Test and you would want to have an experienced person behind the stumps.

Saha has not played any Test since December 2021.

In his last Test match, Saha came up against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Later, Saha revealed that the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid, had suggested him to consider retirement as an option.

While Saha has not donned the India jersey since then, he has continued to play domestic cricket. Overall, he has three centuries and six half-centuries in 40 Tests.

India’s squad for the WTC final has two wicketkeepers including KS Bharath and Ishan. In all likelihood, Bharat will make the cut for the Border Gavaskar Trophy competition having played in all four Tests earlier this year.

however, there is recommended To bring Ishan into the eleven as he would bring an X-factor.
