Chahar said, ‘I have been working hard on my fitness for the last two-three months, I am fully fit and preparing well for the IPL.’

“I had two major injuries. One was a stress fracture and one was quad grade 3 tier. They are both huge injuries. You are out for months. Anyone who comes back from injury takes time, especially fast bowlers For.

“If I was a batsman, I would have played for a long time but as a fast bowler, when you have a stress fracture, it is very difficult to get back on track. You can see other bowlers struggling at the back as well.”

“I have followed one rule all my life. If I am bowling completely on my own, if I am batting on my own, then no one can stop me. This was the basic rule with which I started my career.

“I don’t care who is playing, who is not playing, my aim is to be fully fit and give 100 per cent with the ball and bat. If I do this, I will get opportunities.”

Since making his India debut in July 2018, he has managed to play 13 ODIs and 24 T20Is.

The men’s IPL will be preceded by the inaugural Women’s Premier League and Chahar couldn’t be more excited for her women’s counterparts.

“IPL changed men’s cricket forever, got a lot of opportunities for guys. The same will happen with the Women’s Premier League. Women’s cricket will grow rapidly as they will get to face international players early in their career. It will also help a lot of women cricketers who have not been able to earn money and will encourage competition,” Chahar said.
