Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday hit out at the Center for renaming the famous Mughal Garden of Rashtrapati Bhavan as ‘Amrit Udyan’ and said it (name change) was BJP’s attempt to divert attention from key issues like price rise and unemployment. There is a conspiracy. The iconic Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan, now known as ‘Amrit Udyan’, will open to the public from January 31, an official statement issued on Saturday said.

Reacting to the Centre’s renaming of Mughal Gardens, Yadav said, “Why don’t you change the name of Lucknow-Agra Expressway to Amrit Expressway.” Amrit Medical College, Amrit Cancer Hospital, Amrit Toilet etc. would be renamed during his rule. This (change of name) is a well-planned conspiracy by the BJP to divert the attention of the people from the core issues of price rise, unemployment etc. ,

Yadav was in Kannauj to provide financial help to the family members of two laborers killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He gave one lakh rupees each to the family members of each of the victims. He said that once the Samajwadi Party government is formed in the state, one member of each family will be given a government job.

The Samajwadi Party chief also spoke on the fall in the share prices of Adani group companies during the past week. Share prices of Adani group companies on Friday plunged up to 20 per cent for the second consecutive session, eroding over Rs 4.17 lakh crore from the combined market valuation of the listed firms after US-based Hindenburg Research made damaging allegations.

The Adani Group denied the allegations and said it was examining legal options to take ‘punitive action’ against Hindenburg Research for its ‘reckless’ attempt to thwart a mega share sale in the group’s flagship firm. Yadav said that hard earned money of people invested in Life Insurance Corporation and State Bank of India is at stake.

“The numbers game is on. The real game will happen on Monday (when stock markets will reopen),” he said. On opposition from some BJP workers over his temple visit, Yadav said, “Now the BJP members will decide who can go to the temple and who cannot.” He alleged that the BJP has stopped the development works started by his government in Kannauj.
