The incident came to light on Tuesday when the police questioned the minor son of the accused. Police further said that he told investigators that his mother and sister had killed the girl and later dumped her body in a nearby drain.

The inspector further said that the accused told the police that he had killed his neighbor’s child “as part of a ritual sacrifice” to search for buried treasure after being informed by the detectives.
“After getting information about the matter, the police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation will be done on the basis of complaint and post-mortem report. We have detained the accused woman, her daughter and husband for questioning. We are probing the incident from other angles as well,” said the inspector.
