The lynching of Madhu, a tribal youth by a group of unknown people sent shockwaves across the country. As per reports, Madhu was grabbed from a cave by a group of people, allegedly beaten up by them and Mookkali was tied up in his arms. This heart-wrenching murder of Madhu, who was suffering from mental disorders, took place on February 22, 2018. Director Vijesh Mani has taken the initiative to make a film titled Adivasi on this relevant issue. Vijesh has released the trailer of this film on YouTube giving a glimpse of Madhu’s heart touching story. The trailer shows Madhu, a sensitive person who spends a major time of her life in the forests and is emotionally attached to various plants and trees.
The trailer is followed by a voiceover which explains the reason for Madhu’s deteriorating health condition, i.e. chronic anxiety. Viewers can see that Madhu is extremely scared of voices and covers her ears as she is seriously disturbed by them. In a sudden turn of events, a very horrifying sight of Madhu’s body appears on the screen. It is being carried by a group of persons. The scene is captured by a wide-angle shot that does not reveal the identity of the criminals who killed Madhu. The trailer ends here and the audience is left with one question – will Madhu’s killers ever be caught. Users were upset that the trailer of a film on such an important subject has been viewed only around 3,000 times. It has been four days since the release of the trailer and by now the views should have increased.
Despite all this, the acting prowess of actor Appani Sarath has become the talk of the tribal town. The stakes are high as Appani’s performance in his last film Angamaly Diaries left an indelible mark on the hearts of cine-goers. There are a lot of expectations from Appani this time too and it is expected that he will live up to the expectations again. The audience appreciated how he left no stone unturned to get the nuances right in his character who suffers from mental illness.
