PM Narendra Modi To Inaugurate Shivamogga Airport on Feb 27, Says ‘Will Boost Tourism and Commerce’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Shivamogga airport in Karnataka on February 27, 2023. The new airport at Shivamogga has been developed at a cost of around Rs 450 crore and will boost commerce, connectivity and tourism in the region, PM Modi said in a Twitter post. “The airport at Shivamogga will boost commerce, connectivity and enhance tourism,” PM Modi wrote on Twitter. Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra said the airport’s passenger terminal building can handle 300 passengers per hour and will serve as a gateway to the Malnad area.

Raghavendra wrote on Twitter, “This airport will fulfill the demand of the people of not only Shivamogga but the entire Central Karnataka. It will give wings to the aspirations of the youth and create lakhs of employment opportunities for them.” “Industry especially IT, tourism, dairy will benefit immensely. Due to the guidance of PM Shri @narendramodi ji and the efforts of our double engine government, this ambitious project has been realized in record time,” he said.

According to an official statement, PM Modi will visit Karnataka on Monday and inaugurate an airport and several other development projects in Shivamogga. According to the statement issued on Saturday, the Prime Minister will visit and inspect the newly constructed airport, after which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects in Shivamogga.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of two railway projects in Shivamogga – Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranebennur New Line and Kotegangaguru Railway Coaching Depot. The new line, which will be developed at a cost of Rs 990 crore, will provide better connectivity between the Malnad region and the Bengaluru-Mumbai mainline.

The coaching depot in Shivamogga city will be developed at a cost of over Rs 100 crore to help start new trains from Shivamogga and have low maintenance facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru. He will dedicate to the nation the Belagavi Railway Station, redeveloped at an estimated cost of about Rs 190 crore, and lay the foundation stone of six multi-village planning projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Belagavi.
