NDA is very close to majority for the presidential election. The opposition is also calling itself strong, but both do not have a sufficient majority. In such a situation, the role of Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naveen Patnaik and KCR becomes important. Without them the path of UPA and NDA will not be easy. Efforts are on to bring smaller regional parties together.

NDA is 13 thousand votes away from majority. If there is support of either Reddy or Patnaik, then victory will be achieved. In 2017, both of them supported the NDA. Let us know, after 5 years, now how is the picture of Presidential Election 2022…

First of all, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik. On behalf of the opposition, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has invited Naveen Patnaik. On the other hand, BJP has also given big leader Ashwini Vaishnav the responsibility of getting in touch with Patnaik.

Like in 2012, 2017, the demand for Naveen Patnaik has increased in the presidential election of 2022 as well. He has more than 30 thousand votes.

BJD is not very active in the politics of the Center
At the central level, Patnaik’s party Biju Janata Dal was last involved in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. Since then BJD has not been involved in any government at the Centre. That is, for almost 20 years, Patnaik does not have a big role in central politics, although the coordination is better than all the parties.

Role of BJD in 2012 and 2017

  • In the 2012 elections, on the suggestion of Naveen Patnaik, NDA had nominated PA Sangma as its candidate.
  • Sangma was defeated by UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee.
  • In 2017, Patnaik had supported Ramnath Kovind.

NDA may get Reddy’s support
Now let’s talk about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy. Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party has more than 40 thousand votes. NDA’s top leader is in touch with Jagan Mohan Reddy. NDA can get Reddy’s support. However, its official announcement has not yet been made by Reddy.

TRS has not opened its cards yet
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao ie KCR has not yet opened his cards. However, the way the Home Minister is attacking the TRS government on Telangana tour, it seems that the path of BJP is different from the path of smaller parties taking TRS along. Along with Reddy and Patnaik, the NDA is trying to increase the margin of victory.

Changed equations compared to 2017

  • BJP had allies like Shiv Sena and Akali Dal.
  • AIDMK is out of power in Tamil Nadu.
  • BJP is not in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
  • The number of BJP MLAs has decreased in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
  • In 2017 there was NDA government in 21 states.
  • Now there are NDA governments in 17 states.
  • BJP no longer even has Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand.
