Whatever insecurities David Miller had, they are gone: South Africa captain Temba Bavuma

Cape Town: South Africa captain Temba Bavuma is set to talk with David Miller about batting higher up the order in Twenty20s as the team prepares for a five-match tour. India Starting in June.

Miller has failed to impress for South Africa in white-ball cricket over the years but has had a stellar Indian Premier League season with champions Gujarat Titans.

He batted mostly at number five in contrast to his usual six with South Africa, where he scored 481 runs at a strike rate of 143 with a competition best average of 68.71.

He said, ‘He has done very well in the IPL. Whatever insecurities were there, it has now gone away,” Bavuma told reporters on Tuesday.

“We will have talks. He is an important member of the team. If he feels that he can add more value to the order, then it is up to the talks.”

With whom would South Africa want to settle their batting order in this series? T20 World Cup in Australia in October.

“The important thing is to prepare for the World Cup,” says Bavuma. “People need to be in a competitive space. And the India series will be an important part of the competitive process, even if the conditions are different in Australia.”

Bavuma said that they want to win the series, there will be an element of rotation to manage the burden.

“We have not come together as a team, but the rest (non-IPL players) have had good seasons. We will arrive a little early to get acquainted.

“With multiple formats (this season), managing the workload will be important, especially for the bowlers.”

The series kicks off on June 9 in Delhi and ends 10 days later in Bengaluru.
