Balkaur Singh, father of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala, said on Wednesday that he still did not understand what was the fault of his son that led to his murder. His family is ruined, but he does not want any other family to suffer in the same way, during his son’s “Bhog” ceremony attended by a large number of people in Mosa village of Mansa. “I still don’t know what was wrong with my son. No one has ever lodged any complaint against him.” Singh said his son never did anything wrong to anyone.
The singer was shot dead here on May 29, what his father called an “unfortunate day”. Referring to action against criminals, he said, “We have given time to the government.” He said he felt he should give some time to the government as it “takes time”. We (family) will not rest till we get justice. He also shared anecdotes from Moosewala’s childhood and later life and called him an “ordinary youth”. He said that his pain has subsided to a great extent as many families have shared their grief with him. Singh cautioned people against the fake social media accounts of Moosewala and asked them not to pay heed to any news or information.
He said that he himself would share the relevant information on social media. Moosewala’s mother Charan Kaur called May 29 a “black day for the family”.
He urged the people to plant a sapling in the memory of Musewala and take care of it.
